Funeral directors in Amesbury
You'll find us on Salisbury Street — the main road through Amesbury, the one most people still call the High Street. There's no appointment needed. If the door's open, come in.
If you've just lost someone
There is no wrong time to call, and no question too small. If someone has died and you don't know what happens next, that's the most ordinary reason there is to pick up the phone. We'll talk you through the first few steps, and we won't rush you.
If the death has happened at home and you need someone to come, ring us. Someone answers that number at any hour, including through the night and at weekends. It won't be a call centre — it will be Lucy or Denice during the day, and Alan at night.
Coming to see us
The office is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, and you're welcome to call in without arranging it first. Most people who come to us have never arranged a funeral before, and we'd far rather you turned up with a handful of questions than sat at home wondering.
If those hours don't work — and for a lot of families they don't — ring us and we'll find a time that does.
Parking: use the car park directly behind us, or the pay-and-display by Aldi. Parking on Salisbury Street itself is limited to half an hour, so we'd steer you away from it.
There is a chapel of rest here, and it's where most families choose to visit.
The families we look after
We've been arranging funerals in Amesbury for a long time, and for the villages and towns around it — Bulford, Durrington, Larkhill, Tidworth, Shrewton, Netheravon and the surrounding area. Much of our work comes to us because a family we've looked after before has mentioned our name to someone else. That's the way we'd like it to stay.
Where funerals take place
Most cremations we arrange take place at Salisbury Crematorium, Charlton Park Crematorium in Andover or Basingstoke Crematorium, and we know all three well — the staff, the timings, and how to make a service there feel unhurried rather than processed.
For church services, families here most often choose St Mary and St Melor, Amesbury Methodist Church, Christ the King (Roman Catholic) or All Saints in Durrington.
For burials, we work with churchyards, parish cemeteries and natural burial grounds across the area, and we'll happily talk through the options if you're not sure what's possible. If there's a particular place that mattered to the person who died, tell us and we'll look into it.
What it costs
We publish our prices in full, and you can read them before you speak to anyone. Nobody should have to ask what a funeral costs while sitting in a room with a stranger.
If money is a worry, please say so early rather than late. It's a common worry, there's nothing embarrassing about it, and there is usually more that can be done than families expect.
